Some sector of Christianity like the Born Again also does this practice in line with the biblical guide. They do “fasting” as a sign of humility and asking God to answer their prayers. The type of fasting that they do is called the Daniel’s fast, in which they are allowed to eat fruits, nuts, and only vegetables. They are only allowed to drink water or any natural fruit juices that are not added with anything like sugar or honey. Tea and coffee are not allowed. Any food has undergone any processing or with chemical additives are totally prohibited during fasting.
Some individuals suffering from certain health condition also needs to undergo fasting.
Example, an individual that has a surgery which involves; intestines, stomach or esophagus, prior to surgery, fasting is prescribed in order to avoid regurgitation or the backflow of the food coming from the stomach and esophagus.

- 5:2 method, which means you have two 2 days a week that you will be fasting. The five (5) days would be a none fasting phase.
- 5:2 / 600 method. The method is similar to the previous one but allows you to have 500 – 600 calories a day during the fasting days.
- 8:5 intermittent fasting method, but not only. This is a time-restricted feeding method which means only eating in a certain span of time each day. For example, you can only eat between 8:00 am till 5:00 pm, and the rest of the day you will be fasting. You can modify the time span you will eat depending on your preference.
Some researchers say that intermittent fasting can help you to deal with different type of conditions like diabetes mellitus type2. If you have a high level of cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein (LDL) or low high-density lipoprotein (HDL), intermittent fasting can help you. Practicing intermittent fasting can reduce cancer risks, extend the treating Alzheimer ’s and Parkinson’s disease.
